I Love the look of icicle lights on the eaves of my house. They just seem to say "welcome home". My husband also love the look of the lights on the house but putting them up.....not so much. Especially on the coldest, rainiest day of the year. Which is usually the day we have chosen to put up the lights. We have learned (the hard way) to take advantage of the warmer days of October or the beginning of November to bring out the buckets of outdoor lights, lay them out on the garage floor. We can see if any bulbs need replacing before the lights are on the roof. (sounds like common sense but...we'll leave that one alone) We have even gone so far as to put the lights up on this nice warm day. I know...I know there are those out there just shuddering....it's not time...we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet! It is less stressful for me to have the lights up, but not turn them on until after Thanksgiving, than it is to be rushing to put them up in the colder month of December. When we are ready to turn them on we flip the switch and.....voila there is 
Light!Light!Light!Light!
