Probably everyone knows about "Jar Gifts" by now but I still think they are a great gift idea. One year, we had family members that lived across the country, so inviting them over for dinner wasn't going to happen. Well-we decided to send dinner to them instead. I found jar gift directions for soup, corn muffins, and cookies and then added a favorite family movie to the box. Our loved ones really enjoyed having a special family night. There are so many place to find Jar gift recipes. Books stores sell "cookbooks" or simply do a Google search for Jar gift recipes. Below is one of my favorite Jar gifts.
Peppermint Stick Cocoa
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
Layer powdered milk, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, chocolate chips, and peppermint candy in this order. This mix will fill a 1 quart jar. (12 servings) If your jars are a different size just keep the ratio of ingredients consistent. On a tag write "dump out ingredients into a large bowl. Mix well. Put ingredients back into jar or another air tight container. To serve: Put 1/3 cup mix into a mug and add hot water.
