Photo-a-day challenge~ Days 17-22
This week I did take my photos but haven't had time to post them each day. I have combined them all in one post- I hope you enjoy them.
This isn't the best picture and we got several weird looks but I thought I would step out of my comfort zone box and try to take a picture out in public. On Monday night Dan and I celebrated Valentine's Day with dinner and a movie. (Restaurants are less crowded) This is the time of the movie we went to see- Monuments Men. A bit blurry because I used my cell phone and was trying to hurry so as not to become more of a spectacle than I was.
I love these eyes.
My grandson gave me a Valentine's last week. His mama helped him with the words but the blue, green and red lines are this precious ones handwriting.
Shhhh...this is a pattern I am working on for some special almost two year old.

Day 18~ Drink
Today I wanted to think about summer so I made a lemon spritzer to get me in the mood for warm weather. Crushed Ice, fresh squeezed lemon juice, seltzer water and some Stevia for a little sweetness. A Lemon Spritzer |
Day 19~ Eyes
I love these eyes.

Day 20~ Handwriting
My grandson gave me a Valentine's last week. His mama helped him with the words but the blue, green and red lines are this precious ones handwriting.
Day 21~ Pattern
Shhhh...this is a pattern I am working on for some special almost two year old.
Day 22~Blue
This is the most unusual blue thing I have. My father-in-law found it at a craft show. The color doesn't look right in this picture but it is a beautiful cobalt blue. Somehow, the maker flattened a blue glass bottle into a spoon rest. Sunday, February 16, 2014

Photo-a-day Challenge Day 11~ Something New
Today's photo challenge is "something new". This was a little more challenging for me because I was hard pressed to find something new around here until I sat at the table for lunch today.....
This is the new banner that mom made for Valentine's Day. I love that Picmonkey put out a special set of Valentine's Day effects to play with because this really wasn't a very good photo due to the angle that I had to take it and the lighting.

Photo-a-day Challenge~ Self Portrait
Today's challenge is to take a self portrait. I am not big on "selfies" so I thought I would do something a bit abstract with my "selfie".........Here's lookin at you kid!

To achieve these dazzling results I used a photo editor and placed a "weave" overlay on the photo and added a snazzy museum matte.

52 Week Book Challenge
Well I haven't posted about a book I have finished in a while because the book I was reading was 807 pages long so it took me few weeks to get through it. For this years challenge, one thing I wanted to do was to broaden the genres that I typically read. So I turned to two friends who enjoy fantasy and gave them some basic perimeters of what I thought I could handle and they suggested the series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. Book 1 is called A Game of Thrones. To make a long story short, King Robert Baratheon has come north to his best friend, Lord Ned Stark's keep, Winterfell, to ask him to become the "Hand of the Kings Guard" because the previously "hand" has died. Lady Stark receives a note from her sister, who was married to Jon Arryn,
the previous hand, that she believes her husband was murdered. Ned agrees to take the position and while there decides to find if there is truth to Lady Arryn's claim of murder. There are many more characters, plots and plot twists to even go into detail in one post, without giving too much of the story line away. Martin has a very enjoyable writing style and the themes remind me very much of the medieval times. I would caution the reader that there are several intimately mature themed parts that are not recommend for younger readers. There is also the element of false gods, dragons, etc. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this book and have started reading book 2.

Photo-a-day Challenge~ Day 8 Sky
Photo-a-day Challenge~ Day 7 Button
Today's challenge is to photograph a button. The buttons I chose are vintage ones that my grandmother bought in the late 1940-1950's. It is really neat to have buttons that my mom remembers being in the button jar since she was a little girl. I used a photo editor with this pic by adding a "drop shadow" effect. It's pretty cool.

Photo-a-day Challenge~Dinner
Today's photo challenge is "Dinner". So what's for dinner? .......

Photo-a-day Challenge Day 4~ A Stranger
Today's challenge is to take a picture of a stranger. I found this a bit difficult without looking like a stalker so I decided to take a picture at a wedding we attended. (I know..chicken) Our nephew got married today and since I had never met the maid of honor before I guess she would qualify as stranger.
Photo-a-day Challenge~Day 3 Hands
I am a few days behind on my photo challenge so today is catch up day. (I have been taking the photos just haven't had time to upload them to the blog!) Of all the things I use my hands for, quilting is one of my favorites.

Photo-a-day-Challenge
Nothing like a good blog challenge! For the month of February I have decided to join a blog friend of mine, Kati from Kati's Little Corner of the World, who is hosting a Photo-a-day-Challenge. I have really been wanting to work on my photography skills, so when Kati posted this challenge I decided to give it a shot. Kati has posted the list of daily photo challenges here. So on your marks....get set.....go!
Not very pretty but today I am working on quilting a wall hanging for my nephew's wedding gift. (I will post pictures of the finished quilt after their wedding later this week.)
